From the nearby sandy beaches of Old Law you can see the imposing 80ft "Beacons" which give guidance to the harbour of Holy Island lying near the Farne Islands bird sanctuary, and to the south stands the magnificent Bamburgh Castle.

Holy Island (Lindisfarne): Island with strong Christian Heritage on which stands Lindisfarne Castle/Priory, home of St. Cuthbert in whose honour the Lindisfarne Gospels were written.

Historic Towns: Nearest is Berwick upon Tweed which frequently changed hands between the English and the Scots, whilst Alnwick, Kelso and Edinburgh can also be visited.

Alnwick Garden: Visit Alnwick Garden, one of the UK's most innovative and spectacular garden projects, at Alnwick Castle - a major film location for the Harry Potter movies.

Castles: As well as the spectacular nearby Bamburgh Castle the romantic ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle and Alnwick Castle, this historic region also has Warkworth Castle, Chillingham Castle, Lindisfarne Castle, Norham Castle and Etal Castle.

The Coast: Beautiful unspoilt beaches of white sands. Enjoy world reknowned Craster Kippers at Craster fishing village. Visit Seahouses, Beadnell and Alnmouth.

Battle Sites: In this land of the notorious Border Reivers you can visit Flodden Field, and further south Hadrian's Wall is a vivid reminder of when the Romans occupied this region.
