Winter Weekend Breaks
Come and get away from it all:
- Imagine walking the deserted white sands of Ross Beach with
Holy Island and Lindisfarne Castle just a mile away across a sparkling
sea on a fresh winter's day.
- Imagine watching a winter storm gathering over the battlements
of Bamburgh Castle.
- Imagine Northumberland laid out at your feet from high up in
the Cheviot hills on a crisp winter afternoon.
- Imagine a pub lunch beside the fire at Seahouses while the
fishing boats shelter from a blustery North Sea crashing at the harbour
wall.
- Imagine having the coast and the castles, the Cheviots and
the countryside, right on your doorstep for a perfect weekend break.
- Imagine coming home at the end of the day to the warmth and
comfort of a luxurious, four star, farm cottage.
- Imagine going to the door and listening to the wild geese
flying over you with all the stars to be seen on a clear moonlit night.
Winter can be wonderful on the Northumbrian Coast.

“Champagne and Oysters ” Weekend
This includes a bottle of champagne and two dozen oysters per two persons
Lindisfarne Oysters
When
eaten “au naturel” the experience could be likened to one’s first ever
dip in the ocean, exciting, refreshing and slightly shocking - and a few
minutes later you’ll want another half dozen - and more Champagne! Records
show that over 600 years ago, in 1381, the monks at the Priory on Holy
Island acquired some oysters, and this may well have been the start of
the Lindisfarne oyster beds. Oysters also have a surprisingly distinctive
flavour when cooked. Try them grilled with garlic butter, Gruyere cheese
and a sprinkle of fresh breadcrumbs.
