Coming From The South

For Outchester Cottages and The Ducket
On the A.1 road about 12 miles north of Alnwick you will pass a large fuel service station on your right. Keep going for another two miles, then turn right on to the B1342 signposted 'Bamburgh'. This is just before Coastal Grains silos, large silver corn bins that you can't miss in daylight. After one mile you come to a railway crossing, then it's another mile to the cottages on the left.

For The Ducket
Collect the key at the cottages as above, then continue for a short distance on the B1342 to a T junction, where you will turn right (blind corner!), then drive a further ¼ mile to The Ducket.

For Ross Cottages

As above, but stay on the A1 for ¾ mile north past the B1342 turning. Turn right at the sign 'Budle' and 'Waren Mill'. After ¼ mile, you come to a railway crossing, then ¼ mile further on turn left at the T junction. Drive for one mile to another T junction, then turn right. Ross is one mile further.

TRAFFIC NEWS. A1 road south of Newcastle

The following information comes from the Highways Agency and may affect your travel plans.
Holiday makers traveling to the Northumberland area between July and the end of September are advised that major road works will be taking place on the A1 south of Newcastle Upon Tyne. As a result of these works, journey times will be affected.
The works to strengthen the Allerdene Bridge will affect travel between Team Valley and the Angel of the North, on both the northbound and southbound carriageways. This will begin on July 25 and will last for ten weeks.
A contra-flow will be put in place on the northbound carriageway while the southbound carriageway will be closed. The northbound slip road at Kingsway, Team Valley, and the southbound off and on slip roads at Eighton Lodge, near the Angel of the North, will also be shut.
Up to the minute travel information will be available on the Highways Agency Information telephone line on 0845 750 4030, or by visiting www.highways.gov.uk

Coming From The North

For Ross Cottages
On the A.1 road about 12 miles south of Berwick-upon-Tweed you will pass Buckton Farm on your right, then a signpost for 'Fenham Le-Moor' on your left. Shortly afterwards, turn left at the signpost for 'Elwick' and 'Easington Grange'. After ¼ mile, you come to a railway crossing, then after about 1½ mile you pass Elwick Farm. After another ¼ mile turn left at the T junction. Ross is one mile further on.

If you miss the first turning, you can continue south on the A1 for 2½ miles, turn left at the signpost 'Budle' and 'Waren Mill' (and 'Northumberland Coastal Route'). After ¼ mile you come to the railway crossing, then ¼ mile more to the T junction where you turn left. After another one mile turn right at the T junction, then drive for another mile to arrive at Ross.
