During our fantastic week here we thought noteworthy Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Chillingham Castle, Holy Island, Cragside House and the Farne Islands. The beach here at Ross - brilliant, clean, quiet and safe for children swimming. And the West Coastguard Cottage was absolutely tip top. Thanks.

Once again we have enjoyed a lovely holiday in Northumberland - made all the more special because of the very comfortable accommodation at Shepherd's Cottage. Our top tip would be - if you want to do Alnwick Castle and Gardens it is well worth getting the two day ticket which gives plenty of time to do justice to both places.

Another great stay at Outchester enjoying the beautiful beaches, countryside and spacious comfortable Dovecot cottage. We spent a lot of time on Ross beach nearby - the 20 minute walk across the links is pleasant and the beach is beautiful and empty with great views of Lindisfarne and Bamburgh Castles.

Our third visit to Eiderduck (can't wait for the next!). Weather has not been too kind but found a new lovely place to visit "Low Newton".
We had a hare looking at us through the patio doors one night,"a lovely moment".

I chose The Ducket from the Northumberland Tourism brochure to celebrate my 50th birthday. What a pity that the maximum number of stars they can award is 5 - this place deserves twice that !
Northumberland has been a revelation - it is still possible to park near the sea in England ! Along with other guests to The Ducket, Bamburgh beach and walking from Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle have been particularly enjoyed, but it has always been a pleasure to return to The Ducket in the evenings.
Many thanks are due to the owners for the thoughtful attention to detail which makes The Ducket such a comfortable place to stay.
